Tripoli – Emad Agag
Libyan Interior Minister Fawzi Abdel Aal has described the current security situation in Libya as “excellent”. Abdel Aal explained that all reports about the security conditions in Libya were excellent if compared to the previous security conditions in the first few days of the February revolution. He also proclaimed that the crime rate in Libya, particularly murder, was declining, as was mugging which is now "barely notable". Abdel Aal stated that despite the proliferation of weapons in the country, the incidences of weapons being used were not significant. The minister also said that Libya was working on forming an integrated force to secure its borders and surrounding areas, starting with Ras Jdir, adding that it was expected to be fully secured soon. He confirmed – according to press statements – that a press conference will be held next Thursday in Ras Jdir to explain the decided arrangements, stating that he will announce the final date to reopening the borders soon in coordination with the Tunisian authorities.
