Eight Jordanian Sunni jihadists have been arrested as they tried to cross the border into Syria to fight its government forces. Those detained “attempted to go to Syria for jihad,” top Salafist leader Abed Shehadeh, known as Abu Mohammad Tahawi, told AFP. He said they tried to go to Syria on their own, but added that “all Muslims” should defend their brothers in Syria. Foreign Sunni jihadists are fighting alongside insurgents against Syria forces, but their numbers are considered small.
