Israeli radio reported, Friday, that the Israeli government would extend its truce with Hamas, in return for lifting economic sanctions off the Gaza Strip. Israeli intelligence network Mossad’s official David Midan is also reported to head to Cairo soon to discuss the issue. It added that Midan and Gershon Baskin, head of the Israel Palestine Centre for Research and Information, had initiated contact in order to extend the truce between Israeli and Palestinian factions, particularly Hamas, in return for lifting economic sanctions off the besieged Gaza Strip and allowing all commodities in, including construction material. Midan had previously played a key role in the prisoner-swap deal between Hamas and Israel.
