Jerusalem - QNA
The former head of Israeli National Security, Uzi Arad has confirmed that the Israel was responsible for the assassination of Hezbollah military commander Imad Mughniyeh four years ago. Hezbollah is a powerful Shia militant group in Lebanon, backed by Iran. In a comment on the recent bombing of an Israeli bus at Burgas airport in Bulgaria on Wednesday, to which Israel accused Hezbollah and Iran of carrying out the attack, he said: "Israel is the attacker because it targeted the terrorist Imad Mughniyeh and Iran is the defender.” This is the first time an Israeli official has admitted Tel Aviv's long suspected role in the assassination of the Hezbollah leader. Hezbollah had earlier accused Israeli intelligence service Mossad of assassinating Mughniyeh in a car bomb in the Syrian capital Damascus on February 12 in 2008.
