Lebanese MP Hussein Musawi on Thursday slammed United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s “racist reading” of the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and his conclusion that the party\'s weapons capability threaten Lebanon’s sovereignty. Musawi is a part of Iran-allied Lebanese militant group and political party Hezbollah. In his 18th report to UN Security Council on the implementation of the resolution which ended Israel’s summer 2006 war with Lebanon, the UN chief repeated Wednesday that Hezbollah’s arms threaten the country’s sovereignty. “Your unjust reading of this resolution is in line with a course drawn by the US administration for you,” Baalbek-Hermel MP said in a statement. “It orders that you and your staff serve its interests and the designs of the Zionist entity.” Musawi said he wondered where the UN was when Israel’s air force was bombing Gaza, killing the children, women and the elderly. “We got used to officials of this organisation dealing recklessly with the lives of people of our region and their causes,” Musawi said. “For our part, we will adopt the policy of ignoring unjust resolutions, as long as this organisation continues to be involved in writing resolutions of aggression and regulating oppression.\"
