Gaza - Kamal El-Yazgi
Sources have revealed that the Hamas organisation is heading towards declaring the formation of an Islamist political party replacing the movement. There are several internal problems facing this decision as the Muslim Brotherhood wants this party to be one of its Arabic and global parties, in order to distance themselves from a perceived link to terrorists, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper \"Al Anbaa\". Parties belonging to the Hamas movement are in disagreement with this proposal, including Mahmoud Al-Zahar together with leaders and supporters of the military wing of the Al-Qassam Brigades, as they believe the move would be detrimental to the movement, sources added. Several leadership meetings of Hamas have been taking place in Sudan in order to discuss the formalities of the new party as they take over the Palestinian authority as a political party enjoying a popular majority. However, Palestinian sources expect a division amongst Hamas supporters, particularly as the vast majority in the Gaza Strip want to maintain the armed wing of the movement.
