Cairo – Akram Ali
The Muslim Brotherhood\'s political wing, the Freedom and Justice Party, has demanded the acceleration of the transfer of power from the Military Council to an elected authority. It wants the elected authority to have national legitimacy and a clear schedule that works on meeting the demands of the people. In a statement, the party stressed the need for the faster elections. “There is no point of protesting to put pressure on those in charge of the country to meet the people’s demands anymore”, the party said. The party demanded that the Military Council commits to a road map with a time schedule for each stage of the elections, as well as the establishment of the new Constitution. It also demanded the activation of the civil, union, educational and community work, as the party believes that these organisations are crucial to building the state.
