Hatem Bagato, the Secretary General of the Supreme Presidential Elections Commission (SPEC), said that the body will not bow to any pressure or threat to hand over a copy of the voters data base to any of the second round candidates.  The statement comes after demonstrations organised by Muslim Brotherhood candidate, Mohammed Morsi, called on the commission to release the data to the presidential candidate to check for irregularities. Bagato also said that the commission had done its part and revised the database after the parliamentary elections.  He highlighted that Morsi’s camp had filed a complaint claiming errors in the database but it was investigated and found to be baseless, according to Bagato. The run-off round will take place on June 16 and 17, between Mohammed Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood candidate and Ahmed Shafiq, the last prime minister of the reign of the ousted president, Hosni Mubarak.
