The Egyptian fact-finding Committee for recovering funds smuggled outside the country held its first meeting Thursday, headed by MP Essam El-Erian of the Freedom and Justice Party. The committee was formed by the Parliament last week, and developed a plan of action to recover missing funds. The Committee agreed to summon the Attorney General, the Governor of the Central Bank, and the Judicial Committee of the Ministry of Justice in charge of the capital recovery to question them about action already taken. The Committee is expected to hold a meeting next Tuesday to get briefed and the obstacles that stood in the way of the fund recovery process. The parliament had approved forming the committee to recover capital smuggled during and right after the revolution of January 25, 2011, in response to the request of MP Mustafa Al-Guindy and 22 other members.
