An Egyptian People’s Assembly official announced Saturday that Egypt has decided to pump fuel to the Gaza Strip to run the sole power plant starting Sunday. Sayyid Najida, head of the assembly's industry and energy committee, told Hamas' Al-Aqsa TV that 500,000 litres of fuel would ship per day for the power plant and 100,000 for gas stations. Smuggling fuel into the coastal enclave has stopped because Egyptian smugglers have requested an increase in their share of the profits, but Gaza merchants and ministries refused.
