Sharm el-Sheikh – Akram Ali
Egyptian foreign minister Mohammed Kamal Amr has said the Egyptian-Iranian relationship is still being pursued in international forums. He added that the meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) committee concerned with Palestine discussed how to practically support the Palestinian cause. The Egyptian side had collected all the suggestions and will include them in one document, which will then be sent to the representatives of NAM countries New York to be introduced in the UN Security Council. About the extent to which the Arab Spring had affected the recent NAM summit in Cairo, Amr said: “The Arab Spring was present in many of the discussions as well as bilateral talks.” \"It was agreed on in the convention of a tripartite meeting between the foreigner ministers of Egypt, Tunisia and Libya last June to coordinate positions and economic cooperation between the three state,\" he added. Amr also said Egypt\'s January 25 revolution gave Egyptian diplomacy \"a big opportunity\", and that they, in the foreign ministry, consider the revolution \"one of the motivations that prompts the ministry staff to exert their utmost effort in protecting Egyptian interests\".
