Cairo - Akram Ali
Local young people and political activists demonstrated in front of the Israeli ambassador’s home in Cairo demanding his expulsion. The protest was against the killing of 18 border security guards Sunday night at Rafah by unknown militants. Demonstrators repeated slogans against the Israeli ambassador which accused “Tel Aviv” of behind the incident. The area of the Israeli ambassador’s home was subject to an intensive security presence to avoid any clashes like those that happened in front of the Israeli embassy in Cairo last September. A number of youth were from revolutionary movements including: 6 April, Hazemon, and Ultas. Demonstrators considered their action as an expression of their anger, confirming that they will cooperate with political power to evolve the situation if the Israeli ambassador isn’t expulsed. The Israeli embassy in Cairo was attacked last September during protests against the killing of two Egyptian soldiers on the border with Israel.
