Kayed Al-Ghul, leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, revealed that over the next few days, the Egyptian leadership will call for Palestinian factions to make progress on the issue of reconciliation, which has been stalled by the government. Al-Ghul said in a press statement on Monday morning that he will soon be inviting the factions to the Egyptian capital of Cairo, to discuss how to overcome the stalling in the implementation of the reconciliation agreement, adding that up until now, no invitation has been sent to either faction. He explained that the Popular Front had proposed to the Egyptian leadership during a meeting last Sunday, to invite the High Commission, which was formed in March 2009, to discuss how to depart from the current situation, which has led to the postponement of the reconciliation, and to ensure partnership in the implementation of the agreement. The delegation from the Popular Front stressed the importance of Egypt’s role in completing the reconciliation, and overcoming the damaging rift between Fatah and Hamas. It also emphasized the importance of comprehensive national dialogue to address all the outstanding problems. The Popular Front delegation, which includes a member of the Political Bureau of the Popular Front, Dr. Rabah Muhanna, and a member of the Central Committee, Majdalawi, met with the leadership of Egyptian Intelligence in Cairo, and discussed the reconciliation with them, among other issues.
