A blast in the Bahraini capital, Manama, injured four police members on Tuesday, Al Arabiya reported. The explosion, which took place in the Diraz area outside of Manama, was triggered by a locally-made bomb, Al Arabiya correspondent in Bahrai reported, citing security sources. A security source, who refused to be named, said the blast targeted security members patrolling the area. One resident told Reuters that three of the policemen appeared to be seriously wounded by the blast in Diraz, where there have been frequent protests by majority Shi’ites against the Sunni-Muslim led government. There was no immediate report of the incident on the state news agency BNA. On April 9, seven policemen were wounded, three of them seriously, when a home-made bomb exploded during a protest near Manama calling for the release of an activist on a two-month hunger strike.
