Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has appeared on Syrian state Television on Tuesday, it is the first time he has been seen in public since his last statement on state television on July 22. The footage shows Assad with the visiting Iranian envoy which includes the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalil. Many had speculated as to where Assad was and who he was hiding from. The move may be an attempt to renew confidence after the defection of the Syrian Prime minister Riyad Farid Hijab on Monday.
