Syrian state television has reported that Wael al-Halki has been named as the country's new prime minister. Wael formerly held the position of health minister at a time when the World Health Organization described Syrian medical supplies as "critically low" The appointment follows the previous prime minister fleeing Syria on Tuesday. The Jordanian government formally announced that former Prime Minister Riyad Farid Hijab is currently residing in Jordan.
