The Algerian government has lodged an official complaint against its German counterpart after reports emerged of Algerians being ill-treated at Frankfurt airport. The Algerian foreign ministry spokesman, Ammar Blaney, said on Wednesday in a written statement: \"The chargé d\'affaires of the German embassy in Algeria was called by the Algerian foreign minister who asked him for clarification on ill-treatment by the authorities of Frankfurt airport towards Algerians.” Blaney explained that the Algerian tourists in question were unfairly treated even though they had a Schengen visa. \"The German diplomat expressed his understanding of the Algerian reaction and he committed to notify his country of the issue immediately,\" he added. Blaney said the German ambassador to Algeria will be received in the foreign ministry upon his return to Algeria.
