Local and security sources in the Taiz province in southern Yemen announced 7 people were killed and 16 wounded on Friday evening, after a grenade exploded in the Bassatin market in Tahrir street. Sources told Arabstoday that the violence started when a motorcycle rider faught with a vendor in the market about the rental of the motorcycle, before the biker threw a grenade towards the vendor. The explosion led to the instant death of the vendor, the motorcyclist and 5 other merchants and shoppers. The sources said that the explsoion resulted in many death because it was co crowded, and medics expect the death toll to rise within the next hours as some of the bystanders are in a critical state. In another incident at the Qadisiyah market, in a southern suberb of Sanaa, witnesses told Arabstoday that a suicide bomber blew himself up on Friday evening in front of a gate, causing his death and the injury of another person. The suicide bomber’s identity is still unknown, as well as the group behind him and the intention of the operation.
