At least seven Afghan national army soldiers were killed and four injured following a militant attack in the eastern and south-eastern regions of the country. An Afghan defence ministry statement said the soldiers were caught in roadside bomb explosions in the Paktia, Paktika, Maidan Wardak and Zabul provinces of Afghanistan. The Afghan soldiers seized some weapons, ammunitions and explosives including 25 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the operations. In the meantime the Afghan interior ministry said at least three Taliban militants were killed and another militant was injured following military operations at Faryab, Kandahar, Helmand, Uruzgan, Ghazni and Farah provinces of Afghanistan. Afghan interior ministry officials said at least eight Taliban militants were detained during the operations.
