Three people were killed and 32 injured when Peruvian students clashed with police over plans for a new university in the central region of Huancavelica, officials said Wednesday. Authorities said the clashes erupted late Tuesday and went on into the night, as students protested plans to open a new university site, which students feared will hurt the viability of an existing faciility. The demonstrations turned deadly when students clashed with police, after setting three regional government offices on fire.
