10 were killed and nine wounded, including a senior officer in Iraqi Ministry of Defence in separate incidents in the past 24 hours. Four women from one family were killed by an unknown gunmen who broke into their house in Diyala province, northeast Baghdad. “Unidentified gunmen attacked on Saturday evening a house in the outskirts of Al-Moallimin neighborhood, 7 km west Baquba, and shot at its residents killing four women," a police source from Diyala told 'Arabstoday'. In a another incident, the source reported that one policeman and two members of Sahwa were killed, where two other members were injured following an armed attack carried out by unknown persons on a Police checkpoint in Sahwa south Buhriz, south of Baquba. A source in the Iraqi Civil Defence Directorate in Baghdad said that “one of the civil defence members was killed and three others were injured, one of which is a lieutenant, while trying to extinguish a fire which broke out Saturday evening in a two floor building in central Baghdad used for storage of fabrics." In a separate incident, the source said that a Brigadier General in the Ministry of Defence was shot by unidentified gunmen while he was driving his personal car on the Airport Road, west of Baghdad. Nineveh province, 405 km north of Baghdad, witnessed targeting the house of the son of the former Regional Intelligence Chief Major General Farhan Mutlaq Al-Jubouri, currently sentenced to life imprisonment, with an explosive device destroying the house, south of Mosul, without resulting in casualties. Al-Jubouri was among those trialed in the case of bombing the Kurdish citiy of Halabja in 1988, the blast which killed five thousand of its inhabitants and injured eight thousand.
