Khartoum - Abed Algayom Ashmeag
Nearly ten people were killed and at least twenty others are trapped after a gold mine collapsed in South Kordofan, according to a Sudanese official. The source said that the Sudanese authorities found eight bodies and rescued other five people, adding that working in this mine was unauthorized and the government warned people before the collapse. It is worth mentioning that rising gold prices combined with the availability of metal detectors has sparked a gold rush in Sudan, with thousands of prospectors descending on the area in recent years in the hope of striking it rich.
