H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued Decree No. 49 of 2017 establishing the Sharjah Equine Hospital.
The decree stipulates that a medical institution shall be called "Sharjah Equine Hospital", and established in the emirate of Sharjah. The hospital shall enjoy the juridical personality and the legal capacity required to achieve its objectives and competencies. It will be financially and administratively independent and report to the Sharjah Government.
As per the decree, the hospital's headquarters and location shall be within Sharjah, and branches may be set up within the cities and areas in the emirate, upon the Ruler's decision.
The new hospital aims to provide excellent medical services to meet different needs and preserve the health of horses of all kinds, by providing them the best possible care.
The hospital shall be managed by a board of directors, consisting of a chairman, a vice-chairman and a number of members, appointed by the Ruler or his representative.
The board shall serve for a term of three renewable years and continue to run until a new one is formed.
It will be responsible for formulating the general policy of the hospital, supervising its implementation, and adopting plans and programmes that ensure the development of work in the institution. It will be sanctioned with the approval of the organisational structure of the hospital.
Approving the annual budget and the final account, appointing the senior management team of the institution and the ratification of other major appointments, are among the responsibilities of the board of directors, who shall meet upon an invitation from its chairman.
The decree also stipulates that the financial resources of the hospital shall include, but not be limited to, government support, proceeds against rendered services, and any other resources accepted by the board.
The hospital’s funds shall be exempted from all local taxes and fees.
This decree is effective from the date of its issuance, and concerned authorities shall implement it within their own jurisdictions. It will be published in the Official Gazette.
