Egypt's Health Ministry on Friday said that the first death among Egyptian pilgrims was recorded in the holy lands in Saudi Arabia on Friday.
The ministry's central crisis management room was briefed that the Egyptian pilgrim died in Medina.
The 73-year old man, from Cairo, has died due to a sharp drop in blood circulation and heart failure, the ministry said.
Hajj is an Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca. It is one of the five pillars of Islam and a religious duty that must be carried out by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so at least once in his or her lifetime.
