Some 14 cases of the mosquito-borne virus Zika were announced in Israel on Tuesday.

An official of the Israeli Health Ministry played down concerns of an outbreak of the virus in the country.

The virus causes birth defects in babies born to some infected pregnant women. It’s mainly spread through mosquitoes, although some cases of sexual transmission have been reported.
