Some 12 people have died of cholera in southern Somalia during the past days, the health ministry said.

Health Minister Hawo Hassan Mohamed, quoted by Shabelle radio, said 44 patients are being treated at medical centers in Sakow town, and 21 in Bu'ale.

The minister added the government is doing its best to deal with the health conditions of the patients, and will bring medical assistance to those towns as soon possible.
