The Conference of Arab Federation for Libraries and Information, which is currently being held in Khartoum, has honoured Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi with the Library and Information Supporter Award. The opening session of the conference, during which the award was announced for Sheikh Sultan, was held at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum on Monday with the participation of 14 Arab and African countries. The session was attended by senior officials of the Sudanese government in addition to Hassan Ahmed Al Shehi, UAE Ambassador to Khartoum,  and Abdullah Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Department of Culture and Information, among others. Wishing health and fast recovery to Sheikh Sultan, Al Owais said he had the honour to pass Sheikh Sultan’s regards to the attendees and his wishes of success to the conference, adding that Sheikh Sultan wished he could have attended the conference. Sarkozy letter Meanwhile, Sheikh Sultan received a letter from the French President Nicolas Sarkozy to be reassured about his heath. Sarkozy said all procedures had been taken to provide the highest degrees of care to ensure Sheikh Sultan’s well-being. Sarkozy expressed his great appreciation and warmest feelings of friendship to Sheikh Sultan, wishing him good accommodation in France and fast recovery and safe return to home. The letter was delivered by Mohammed Meer Abdullah Al Raeesi, UAE Ambassador to Paris, who was received by Sheikh Sultan in his place of residence in Paris. Gulf Today .
