Tartous - Sana
Shadia Abdeljabbar Al-Asaad, mother of child Afaaf Saraqbi, on Wednesday refuted the allegations of some channels – including Al-Jazeera – who claimed that her daughter was killed in prison and that the father is still under arrest. Al-Asaad said that her daughter Afaaf died of natural causes due to a heart defect, and that the father is abroad and probably doesn't know that she is dead yet. She pointed out that after she got married in Homs where she delivered Afaaf and later moved to Tartous, where the child began to show signs of sickness, which is when they took her to a hospital where she remained for three days during which her condition deteriorated until she passed away. Al-Asaad said that her husband's parents took the child's body to their home in Al-Siteen Street in Homs, and later she was surprised to see the picture of Afaaf on Al-Jazeera after they photographed her and claimed that they was killed in a Syrian prison. Al-Jazeera has grown accustomed to weaving false stories and fabrications revolving around children, exploiting their innocence to misguide, instigate and rally public opinion. These stories end up being proven to be lies by the families of the deceased children who include Oula Jablawi, Sari Saoud and Hala Al-Mnajjed.
