Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain Dr. Abdullah Abdul Malik Al-Shaikh

Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain Dr. Abdullah Abdul Malik Al-Shaikh described the royal order to issue driving licences for Saudi men and women alike as a historic step in the course of social, economic and development reforms determined by the kingdom’s vision 2030. According to the vision, Saudi women constitute effective elements in the community enjoying full rights in line with religious regulations that preserve the country’s inherent customs and traditions.

In an interview with Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the Saudi ambassador described the decision allowing Saudi women to drive cars as historic as it reflects the leadership’s keenness to achieve the aspirations of the community and cater for social and economic needs by boosting women’s participation in the labour market and their contribution to social and economic development. He added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is undergoing a reform process at all levels according to 2030 vision which aims to develop all aspects of life and promote women’s role in the development march.
