Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, on Saturday, underlined the importance of continued support for Jordan to provide high quality services to Syrian refugees and host communities.
The minister made the remarks during a meeting with a U.S. congressional delegation, now on a visit to check first hand on the repercussions of the Syrian refugee crisis on the Kingdom, and the services provided to them and the host communities, according to a ministry statement.
Fakhoury briefed the team on the extraordinary challenges currently facing Jordan, including the consequences of hosting Syrian refugees, pointing out that the Kingdom is continuing its comprehensive reform process and efforts to achieve economic growth and prosperity to its citizens.
The minister hailed U.S. aid to Jordan, especially assistance to help it deal with the Syrian refugee crisis.
The delegation’s members said they appreciate Jordan’s efforts to address economic challenges, as well as its role in hosting Syrian refugees, while emphasizing the need for aid to help alleviate the burdens posed by the refugee crisis.
