Minister of Planning and International Cooperation,Imad Fakhoury  discussed with members of the World Economic Forum (WEF)’s World Council for the Future of Humanitarian System, economic challenges facing Jordan.

Fakhoury briefed the council’s members on Jordan’s efforts to grapple with these challenges, which have put more economic and social burdens on the budget, infrastructure and services, education, health and water, especially in the northern and central areas and host communities of Syrian refugees.

The World Council for the Future of Humanitarian System is one of the “Global Future Councils”, which include 50 specialized councils that explore the future of the world in a range of development, scientific, economic and political sectors in cooperation with the World Economic Forum (Davos).

They aim at setting a clear future agenda for many of challenges facing the world today and trying to predict the future course of many revolutions and technological and scientific changes.

In two separate meetings on the sidelines the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa at the Dead Sea, Fakhoury discussed economic challenges facing the Kingdom with United Nations Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Kelly Clements, and Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Ahmad Hussein.
