HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of West Asian Athletics Federation and President of Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA) visited the youth hostels in Isa Town, accompanied by Lord Sebastian Coe, Presidents of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), H.E. Hisham bin Mohammed Al-Jowder, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, Assistant Undersecretary of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and General Secretary of Bahrain Olympic Committee and a number of officials of the ministry, the committee and BAA and IAAF.
HH toured the buildings and was briefed by the minister about its establishment in compliance with the international standards of the IAAF for youth hostels, and the services it offers the visiting youth and athletic delegations.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa expressed his admiration of the facility, which was inaugurated by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic and established by the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, in coordination with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, within the efforts of comprehensive development.
HH: “The Kingdom of Bahrain has taken clear steps to support the infrastructure of development projects in the youth and sports sector, which comes in line with the directives of the Wise Leadership to make Bahrain ready to host youth and sports delegations and make it a global destination to attract young people”.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa added that the Kingdom of Bahrain has been keen on promoting the culture of youth hostels as it serves noble objectives and contribute to the achievement of cooperation and partnership with the International Federation of Youth Houses.
It is worth mentioning that the IAAF President visits Bahrain to attend the annual meeting of the federation’s women sports development committee, held for the first time in the Kingdom and the region on October 24-25.
