The award-distribution ceremony will be held here tomorrow, in the presence of key Arab and world personalities representing all the continents.
The first of its kind in the Middle East region, the Isa Award for Service to Humanity was launched to honour people who have made landmark contributions that have made a deep impact in serving humanity, and to celebrate their selfless and tireless efforts to create a better world.
The prestigious award is among the multiple efforts exerted by HM the King for sake of humanity’s present and future as it adds to the royal initiatives that have been widely acclaimed by international organisations, including the “UNESCO King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICTs in Education” and the “King Hamad International Award for Invention”.
The importance of the award stems from three basic considerations. The fist is that it carries a name who is dear to every Bahraini citizen –His Highness the Late Amir of Bahrain, Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, may Allah the Almighty rest his soul in eternal peace. In fact, the late Amir was a caring leader who embraced all the members of his people and put his country on the right path of progress and prepared it to face the challenges of the 21st century. His dedicated efforts and milestone contributions to the service of humanity will be highlighted in a documentary film.
The second is that the award is within the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to push the international efforts to achieve sustainable development, eradicate famine, end wars and resolve conflicts through peaceful means forward. Therefore, it has been keen on hosting every effort seeking to serve humanity, including the “Inter-faith Dialogue of Civilisations and Cultures” in May 2014, the “Inter-Civilisation Dialogue Forum” in January, 2008 and the international forum themed “Moderation – Between Theory and Practice” in February, 2005.
The third is that the success of the award in enhancing charitable and development work all over the world as it has attracted participants from 60 to 70% of countries during the previous two editions.
There are strong indications that the “Isa Award for Service to Humanity” is achieving its forecast goals, and this is the fruitful outcome of the patronage of HM King Hamad, its Honorary President, which strengthened its status and credibility at the world stage.
The success of the award is also ensured through its jury comprising renowned figures with high expertise and experience in the field of service to humanity.
The “Isa Award for Service to Humanity” will remain a beacon that reminds the present and future generations of the contributions of a great person and in leader, and his dedication in the service to humanity.
The award asserts that Bahrain’s humanitarian efforts will continue, and that HM King Hamad will follow in the footsteps of the late Amir in serving humanity and disseminating the culture of tolerance, harmony and co-existence across the world.
Established in 2009 by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Isa Award for Service to Humanity is granted every two years to either individuals or organizations, who have been selected through a grueling process by an expert panel of jurists.
