Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa

 A tribute was paid to Bahraini women for their dedication and artistic contributions to their country’s cultural life.
Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) hailed women’s efforts to enrich cultural life through artworks that reflect Bahrain’s deep-rooted civilization.
This came as she opened an art show, at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris, France, under the theme “Women in the eyes of Bahraini Artists”.
The expo was prepared by Louise Emilie, in cooperation with Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA). The opening ceremony was attended by UNESCO director-general Irina Bokova, diplomats, media personalities, culture and art figures.
HRH Princess Sabeeka stressed the importance of holding artistic shows in overseas countries to project Bahrain’s civilized image and development strides.
She lauded Bahraini women artists who showcase their works that reflect intellectual and cultural openness, while remaining committed to their national art school.
HRH Princess Sabeeka toured the expo, which will run until September 15, showcasing the artworks of Balqees Fakhro, Mariam Fakhro, Ghada Khonji, Mariam Hajji and Mai Al-Moataz.
BACA President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa stressed the importance of the expo which reveals Bahrain’s art potential to the world.
She paid tribute to HRH Princess Sabeeka for encouraging cultural events which promote Bahraini artists and bring their works to the limelight.
