His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa arrived in Saudi Arabia today to chair the 17th GCC Consultative meeting in Riydah.
HM the King will also lead Bahrain’s delegation to the GCC-US Summit as well as the Arab-Islamic US Summit, at the invitation of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
He was received at Salman Airbase by Riyadh Governor His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Deputy Riyadh Governor HRH Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, the two ambassadors and Bahrain Embassy staff.
In a statement on his arrival, HM the King hailed deep-rooted historic relations and steadily-growing ties binding the two countries and peoples.
He paid tribute to the Saudi leader for the invitation to take part in the consultative summit, the GCC-US Summit and the Arab Islamic –US Summits, towards bolstering partnership, strengthening cooperation and acting collectively to tackle crucial issues which will determine the future of states and peoples in the region.
He commended the Saudi-led efforts to cement ties, foster the culture of peace for all countries in the world to live in security and peace.
He hailed the sound policy adopted by the US Administration as well as its keenness on consulting and working hand in hand with the GCC, Arab and Islamic states to come out with radical solutions to crucial regional and international challenges, particularly the scourges of extremism and terrorism.
“These summits convene as the region and the world go through a critical phase marked by fast and intertwined developments which take their toll on all sides and necessitate concerted efforts and sustained consultation to maintain security and stability”, he said.
He hailed GCC – US outstanding relations which are based on mutual understanding and respect as well as shared interests, describing the key summits as an opportunity to further strengthen strategic relations and usher in wider horizons on all levels.
HM the King voiced confidence in the success of the talks and wide-ranging discussions to unify efforts and charter a comprehensive path to root out extremist mantra, deter terrorist groups, thwart all forms of interference in internal affairs and pave the way for an inclusive partnership encompassing all partners who share the same goals and strive to maintain security and peace all over the word and build a bright future for all human beings.
A mission of honour headed by Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain Dr. Abdulla bin Abdulmalik Al-Shaikh was set up. HM the King earlier left Bahrain, heading to Saudi Arabia.
