DELMA - Emirates Voice
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, has toured Delma Island, visiting several facilities and development projects there and reviewing the progress of work in various vital sectors on the island.
He visited Delma Port on the eastern side of the island, which is part of the Abu Dhabi ports project, and checked on the progress of work and the services offered by the facility since it started operating last July.
The port, whose budget was around AED170 million, has a wave-breaker supplied with a platform that facilitates the operation of the ferry terminal and other facilities aimed at protecting vital establishments and coasts.
Sheikh Hamdan also reviewed the Delma school project, which is being implemented by Abu Dhabi General Services Company, Musanada, at a cost of AED107 million, to be delivered to the Department of Education and Knowledge by June 2018.
The school will have class 1 and nurseries and will cater for 625 students in class 1 and 160 children in the nurseries.
Sheikh Hamdan also visited the Delma Touristic Resort Project. The project, which is being carried out by an Emirati investor, will offer 32 chalets and ancillary buildings built in UAE heritage style for camping, as well as restaurants, children’s entertainment centres and spaces for maritime activities.
H.H. inspected the first phase of a project to demolish 52 old houses on the island, with the aim of re-using the residential plots and ensuring that everybody benefits from the unused spaces and locations.
