Representatives Council Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al Malla said a Bahraini parliamentary delegation, led by the First Deputy Speaker, will pay an official visit to Iraq in January to discuss ways of boosting bilateral parliamentary cooperation. He stressed Bahrain's support to Iraq's unity, being an inherent part of the Arab nation. He also voiced confidence in Iraq's ability to surmount challenges and thwart any attempt aimed at undermining relations with the GCC countries.
Al Malla was speaking as he received today his Iraqi counterpart Dr. Salim Al Jebouri on the occasion of his visit to Bahrain to take part in the 13th IISS Manama Dialogue. The meeting was attended by MP Isa Al Kooheji.
Both sides discussed boosting the parliamentary role in further bolstering cooperation between Bahrain and Iraq, stressing that the current phase undergone by the Arab and Islamic nation requires more cooperation, especially after the US administration's decision regarding Jerusalem.
Dr. Al Jebouri hailed the Bahraini-Iraqi parliamentary cooperation, lauding strong ties binding both countries and underlining Iraq's support to Bahrain's efforts to fight terrorism and foreign interference in its internal affairs
