Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has called for assessing the needs of families in conjunction with partners, to meet their requirements.
The remarks were made during the first FDF meeting in 2015 in Al Mushrif, Abu Dhabi, chaired by Sheikha Fatima. She was briefed by the FDA officials on a number of development projects being implemented by the Foundation.
Sheikha Fatima commended the FDF's achievements at local, regional and international levels, which further boost the role of Abu Dhabi Emirate as a social hub in terms of family care to ensure cohesiveness and stability of the family.
She called for motivating the FDF's employees so that they continue discharging their effective role to complement the achievements of the FDF.
"We in the UAE, believe that human being is above all and should be attended to by all government entities to ensure well-being. The wise leadership urges the institutions to care for families and individuals across the UAE," she said.
The meeting was attended by Nora Al Suwaidi, director of the GWU, directors of the departments and others.
Mariam Mohammed Al Rumaithi, director-general of the FDF, welcomed Sheikha Fatima, citing the importance of her continuous follow-up, which positively impacts the overall performance of the FDF. She also reviewed the previous meetings of the Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation in 2014, and measures taken in this respect.
Al Rumaithi noted that the FDF, like other institutions and government bodies in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, contributed to achieving the goals and programmes of the development strategy pursued by the Government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
She said during the meeting that the Foundation carried out the first five-year plan 2009 - 2013, and submitted the final report to the secretariat of the Executive Council. Al Rumaithi added that the FDF also prepared its second five-year strategic plan 2014 - 2018.
