Lebanese singer Haifa Wehbe
Lebanese singer Haifa Wehbe has often drawn as much attention for her colourful personal life as well as her public life.
Earlier this year the production of her forthcoming
album MJK had been pitted with difficulty. Firstly the record producer Rotana Video & Audio Visual Company postponed its release on several occasions then they delayed the filming of a music video in Bulgaria to complement the title track when the director Ingy Gamal went on maternity leave. The album was finally released in May earlier this year.
In an exclusive interview with Arabstoday, Wehbe aims to set the record straight. The singer said that her new album expresses her change in direction and denied rumours alleging that it sounded pessimistic.
Wehbe then turned her attention to a TV series entitled Moled We Sahbo Ghaieb (Chaos) in which she plays a leading role along with a number of Egyptian stars.
“The crew was on a race to film before Ramadan but as there are no lawsuits, some of the actors including myself preferred to avoid this hurried state of affairs so the programme was postponed to be outside the race on Ramadan which usually is very crowded by other drama productions.”
Wehbe said she was satisfied with her part in the series as she dealt with her character in a special way and added that she had no immediate plans to star in another feature film after her successful role in the movie Dokan Shehata (Shehata’s Market).
Wehbe spend Eid al-Fitr vacation with her husband Ahmed Abo Hashima, an Egyptian businessman Ahmed Abo Hashima in Bahamas and the USA state of Miami. She said the break gave her time to recover from her hectic filming schedule and reflect on her stardom.
