'Dalida: Back to LIFE' fundraising event

'Dalida: Back to LIFE' fundraising event Beirut – Georges Chahine Edrak (The Centre for Research and Development of Applied Treatment) held its fourth annual dinner to raise funds for the fight against mental illnesses. The event, called "Dalida: Back to LIFE," was attended by over 750 people of all ages. The objective of the event was to raise awareness about depression, which is a common condition in Lebanon. The occasion itself marked the 25th anniversary of the death of Dalida, the Egyptian singer who committed suicide after a long battle against depression.
French artist Sandy Sims, who famously portrayed Dalida, performed a two hour dance with her band. Including some of Dalida’s most moving songs in both French and Arabic, the stunning show, which Sims' also performed on her world tour, brought the singer back to life.
In addition, a raffle was held with 17 valuable prizes, most notably jewellery, watches and Dalida’s CDs.
The money raised from the ceremony will be used by Edrak to raise the awareness of mental illnesses such as depression and the importance of mental health, as well funding the establishment of a unit of specialists to provide psychosocial support for children with cancer and other chronic diseases, along with their families.
