Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry launched a fresh initiative titled “Diplomatic Business Breakfast”, designed to host official meetings between SCCI’s leadership, senior management, a selected group of chairmen and executives of companies registered in Sharjah and Their Excellencies the ambassadors and members of the diplomatic missionsacross the country, along with heads and members of the business councils in the UAE.
SCCI hosted representatives of the diplomatic mission of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan yesterday (Wednesday), as the inaugural meeting of the newly announced initiative. Jordan was selected in recognition of the excellent and growing relationship between the UAE and Jordan.
The business breakfast was held in honour of Juma Abdullah Al Abbadi, Ambassador of Jordan to the UAE, and was attended by HE Abdullah Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, a number of SCCI’s board members, HE Khalid bin Butti Al Hajiri, Director-General of SCCI, and HE Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, along with members of the UAE-Jordan Joint Economic Committee and Business Council.
HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, highlightedthe significance of the initiative, as it opens up new horizons for the development of economic relationships by discussing issues of mutual interest. “Theseget-togethers will serve the interests of business communities in Sharjah, the UAE and the other countries with which the UAE shares longstanding economic relationships”, he said.
HE Khalid bin Butti Al Hajiri, Director-General of the SCCI, said that the launch of the initiative reflects the chamber’s commitment to continue constructive cooperation with economic bodies inside the UAE and abroad. “The Diplomatic Business Breakfast” is a new initiative to accelerate SCCI’s business development process, as part of our efforts to provide excellent services to the local business community”.
According to the initiative, SCCI will invite members of the diplomatic commissions of the guest countries, including ambassadors, consuls general, commercial attachés and selected business leaders such as heads of business council and some of the leading Sharjah-based companies.
The UAE investment in Jordan totaled $15 billion (AED55 billion). The UAE is the top investment destination for Jordanian investors, who invest about one billion US Dollar (AED3.67 billion) in the UAE.
