Sharjah - Emirates Voice
Expo Centre Sharjah recently organised a brainstorming session in Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Businessmen Club to identify the pillars of the Centre’s integrated five-year strategy from 2018 to 2022 and chart its new vision, mission, objectives, and institutional values. The Centre’s Chairman and members of the Board of Directors were present during the session.
Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, the Chairman of both Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Expo Centre Sharjah, chaired the session, which was attended by Waleed Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Second Vice Chairman of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Centre’s member of Board of Directors; Expo Centre Sharjah’s members of the Board of Directors; members of the Centre; Saif Mohamed Al Midfa, the CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah; Sheikha Azza Al Qasimi, the Centre’s Deputy Chief Operating Officer; and experts from Cardiff Management Consultants (CMC). CMC provides technical consultation during the planning and execution of this strategy.
The brainstorming session sought to identify the axes of the strategy, achievable objectives, and mechanisms of implementation. This was preceded by a detailed review of the current state and its variables, and the opportunities and the best ways to realize them. Furthermore, the session examined the statement of risks and challenges and probed into how to overcome them during the work course of the Centre.
Preparing a new strategy for the Centre, Al Owais confirmed, should promote and upgrade the exhibition industry in a way that corresponds with "UAE Vision 2021" and with the vision of future Sharjah. The Centre’s new mission, vision, and objectives, according to him, will improve its services, activities and programs.
On the other hand, Al Midfa said that developing this new and ambitious strategy for the Centre mirrors the management’s belief in investing locally, nationally and internationally in the exhibition industry. In addition to the Centre’s resources, staff’s expertise, and contributions, the supervision and efforts from both Boards of Directors offer additional support to the sought-after development in the exhibition industry.
The brainstorming session, Al Midfa confirmed, resulted in identifying mechanisms that should allow Expo Centre Sharjah to become a main player in developing a viable exhibition industry in the coming years. Expo will earn this role not only through investing in skilled human labor and modern marketing strategies and plans, but also through the continuous development of service facilities.
