The Egyptian theatre troop \"Modern Theatre” announced on Thursday that it will begin performances of \"The Days\" next week.
The announcement was made in press conference in the state-owned al-Ballon Theatre.
The play is based
on a three-part novel written by the late Egyptian author Taha Hussein.
The play\'s director Salah al-Haj accused the state run theatre troop of trying to ban the play because it contained criticism of the government.
The play was supposed to be performed in Salam Theatre, but the state theatre administration was recently closed for construction.
\"The Days\" was transferred to Ballon Theatre, but the Modern Theatre troop also said it was not ready for the performance.
However, the troop insisted that they will perform the play on time despite their dissatisfaction with the theatre.
\"It is clear that some fronts don\'t want this play to be shown because they are afraid of Islamists\' reaction,\" play’s lead actor Mofeed Ashour said.
\"The Days\" was part of Egyptian secondary school students curriculum six years ago.
