Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Camel Racetrack

The Tan Tan Cultural Season on Saturday evening witnessed the inaugural ceremony of the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Camel Racetrack, under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Hosted by Tan Tan Province, this is the first camel racetrack in Africa.
The ceremony was attended by the UAE delegation, including Issa Saif Al Mazrouei, Vice Chairman of the Cultural Programmes and Heritage Festivals Committee, Abu Dhabi, Abdullah Butti Al Qubaisi, Director of Events and Communication at the Committee, Mohamed Fadel Benayish, Chairman of Al Mokar Foundation, the organiser of the cultural season, and a number of Moroccan officials and invitees.
Mazrouei said that the launch of the racetrack comes within the framework of the historical relations between the two sisterly countries, and within the scope of joint efforts to preserve authentic Arab traditions and common heritage, as well as to promote camel racing.
Moroccan participants praised the establishment of the track named after the UAE founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who had co-established with his brother, the late King Hassan II, the pillars of strong relations between the two countries.
They also expressed their joy at the inauguration of the track, stressing its importance in the context of preserving authentic Arab traditions, safeguarding the common heritage, and developing camel races on a professional level.
