Katara Cultural Village
Qatar's Cultural Village "Katara" enriches the cultural movement in the country through a host of cultural accomplishments and creativity.
Katara presents a variety of cultural events, festivals, conferences and
seminars at local, regional and international levels through its art-of-state halls and theatres, to connect the heritage of fathers and grandfathers to the future of youth creativity.
Katara issued several cultural publications on pearl diving, Islamic art, Qatar's relations with the sea.
The Cultural Village also organised several festivals, plays, competitions, events and concerts including workshops in traditional arts, lectures on the definition of Qatari culture, and many festivals such as Senyar Festival, the African Festival, Opera Aida and many others.
Katara also organised more than 251 tourist tours and official visits during which a group of officials and guests of the state as well as many local, regional and international schools and universities visited the Cultural Village.
Katara also supervised the events and activities that took place in the Cultural Village to mark national occasions such as the National Day and the Sports Day, in addition to Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha celebrations.
The Cultural Village, Katara, will celebrate the National Day this year through a variety of activities and events, mainly the reception of the 45-metre dhow trip "Fateh Al Khair", which set out on a historic voyage of the Arabian Gulf and will arrive on December 18 to take part in the National Day Celebrations.
The dhow trip is symbolic of the rich cultural heritage of Qatar and the Gulf region at large and aims to revive the beautiful marine legacy and restore close relationships between the GCC countries sharing that legacy.
Katara will also unveil the worlds biggest flag named "Flag of Gratitude and Loyalty" to commemorate the National Day. The flag will be presented to Guinness Book of Records as the largest flag in the world. The Qatar National Flag measures 509 metres in length, 200 metres in width and has a total size of 1,018 square metres
