Mostafa Baghdad died on stage
Mostafa Baghdad, General Secretary of The Union of Free Moroccan Musicians, passed away Saturday evening on the stage of the Hollywood Cultural Space in the city of Salé Baghdad was due to perform at a concert celebrating
the 16th National Festival of Moroccan Song, in honour of the Moroccan artist Latifa Raafat. But the audience was surprised when the musician suddenly fell on the stage before their eyes.
Shortly after the incident, a medical team arrived on the scene and transferred the music chief to a private clinic in the coastal city, but he passed away despite resuscitation attempts carried out by the medical staff.
Musician Al-Adawy, close friend to the late artist and head of National Union of Music Professionals, said in a press statement quoted by the Moroccan media on Sunday evening that the departure of Mostafa Baghdad is \"a loss to art, especially as he was a devoted man with limitless creativity and valued contribution to the industry. He dedicated effort, time and creativity to defend the artistic field.\"
Al-Adawy described the late Mostafa Baghdad as “a man who lived with the concerns of artists and defended them, and remained faithful to this concept and to art\". He continued: \"The sudden death on the stage is a symbol of a falling leaf from the tree that has began to lose its glory.\"
Baghdad is considered one of the prominent names in Morocco\'s cultural scene. He is known to be behind many popular songs, which have been sung by a number of renowned artists in the Arab world, such as Abdul Hadi Belkhayat and Mahmoud Al-Idrisi.
