Amazon Fine Art launched on Tuesday Fine art fan but also a couch potato? Well now you can browse and buy major artistic masterpieces from the comfort of your own home .
Online retail giant Amazon has announced it is adding a fine art section to its online store, to connect web surfers with art galleries across the USA.
The first batch of artworks on sale at Amazon Fine Art include Claude Monet\'s L\'Enfant à la tasse ($1.45m) Andy Warhol\'s Sachiko ($450k), Norman Rockwell\'s Willie Gillis: Package from Home (a steal at $4.85m), and a selection of Clifford Ross photography from $200 a piece.
New York\'s Paddle8, LusterNYC, ArtStar, and Elisa Contemporary Art, Miami\'s Holden Luntz, the McLoughlin Gallery, Modernbook and Heather James Fine Art in Cali, Abmeyer + Wood Fine Art and the Catherine Pearson Gallery in Seattle, and virtual showroom UGallery are among the sellers involved, as well as Rise Art and DegreeArt in the UK.
\"We\'re thrilled to bring the excitement and emotional connection of art to our customers,\" said Amazon Marketplace Vice-President Peter Faricy in a statement, a day after Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos announced his purchase of the newspaper the Washington Post.
