Marrakech International Film Festival
The Marrakech International Film Festival will honour Japanese cinema in its 14th edition that will be held next year between December 5 and 13. "The distinguished reputation and might of Japanese cinema" was the motivation behind
the jury's decision, read in a statement, and it is not the first time Japanese filmwrights have been honoured by the Moroccan festival.
The event, next year, is expected to host a number of these including Lee Su-Jin, Junichi Kanai, and Hirokazu Koreeda.
The festival's 13th edition celebrated Scandinavian cinema, besides honoring Japanese director and script writer Hirokazu Koreeda. Koreeda has won a number of prizes in leading film festivals like the Cannes Film Festival and Vienna International Film Festival, in addition to his native, Japan.
The Marrakech Film Festival is considered one of the most important international annual events cherishing the art of cinema, attracting top movie stars from all around the world.
