The Minister of Antiquities Mohamed Ibrahim
The Minister of Antiquities Mohamed Ibrahim approved the Egyptian-Spanish project draft to light, secure and ventilate the numerous antiquities in Luxor.
Dr. Mansour Barik, general manager of Upper Egypt antiquities, said that the project includes lighting and ventilating the Pharaohs royal cemeteries in the Valley of the Kings. There are also new projects to light the temples of Habu, Luxor, Ramesseum and Hatshepsut. This project aims to open tombs and temples for tourists all year round in order to avoid overcrowding.
Barick added: “We are considering lighting up the outside of the Antiquities. This would provide a beautiful modern view of our sites, which at the moment are in the dark as soon as night falls.”
