Film director Nabil Ayouch
Nabil Ayouch’s feature “The Horse of God” won on Monday the best Francophone film award (outside France) at the Prix Lumières 2014 Film Awards held in Paris.The story of the film, which deals with the phenomenon of terrorism, is based
on a novel by Mahi Binebine, “Les Etoiles de Sidi Moumen” on the terrorist attacks in Casablanca. In this movie, the Moroccan film-maker scrutinizes closely the context and the making of this phenomenon, and follows the journey of a group of young slum boys from their childhood up to their ultimate act of destruction, tracing the factors that led to the death of young boys full of life.
The film had already won several awards in several international film festivals.
Prix Lumières 2014 was awarded to “the life of Adele” by Franco-Tunisian Abdellatif Kechiche, which also won three other awards: Best Director, Best Actress (Lea Seydoux), and Female Newcomer of the Year.
The jury of this edition was composed of 200 representatives of the foreign press based in Paris.
